Our Wedding Day

Boda Castañeda

Today marks 1 month since Eric and I shared our very special day with our family and close friends. Putting this day into words will not compare to what an amazing day we experienced in person.
I was going to vlog the day of the wedding and decided to back out the morning of. A wedding day is so special, I wouldn't have enjoyed it through the screen of my camera, so I put my phone aside and lived up every minute of the day. Plus, I hired the best photography and video team, and I knew for a fact they would capture the best moments in pictures and videos, so I could look back at and relive that day.
I wanted to write this blog sooner, but I wanted to do so with the beautiful pictures that were captured the day of the event. As we all know wedding pictures, or professional pictures take time to meet the best quality of work. I may not have those pictures to share with you all now, but as soon as I do I will make sure to add them on the blog. So in the mean time I will use screen shots from our wedding slide show.
**Also you can watch the slide show at the end of this post.
 Enjoy!

Hair & Makeup:

My hair and makeup was done by the amazing Andrea Rodriguez from A.R Hair Makeup Salon.
Andrea respected and accomplished the hair and makeup look I dreamt of for my wedding day. I chose neutral tones for my eyes, simple glam lashes, and a nude lip color. I wanted to make sure I felt like myself the day of the wedding, therefore going with simple natural looks. I chose to rock my signature hair style(side part and tucked behind my right ear), with a little bit of glam. Andrea created big voluminous curls, and added a brooch for the finish touch. The brooch I wore actually belongs to my cousin Tere, she let me borrow it for my wedding day.  It is a piece she wore on her wedding day, my sister also wore for her wedding back in June, and now I got to wear for my big day as well. Thank you Tere! I can't wait to see which lucky girl in the family will get to use this next💕

Serenata

This not only came as a surprise to myself, but it may also be the first time many our guest hear about this as well. As I was busy getting my hair and makeup done at the hotel, I began to hear mariachi music playing just outside the window of the balcony. Since we were getting ready at the same hotel but different rooms, Eric surprised me with serenata as I got ready upstairs. I cannot describe the chills I felt as I heard all our favorite songs the mariachi played as I got ready.
I am one lucky girl!!😍

Getting Dressed:

I took my mom with me to help me get dressed into my wedding dress. We left the hotel and headed to the hacienda. We shared this beautiful mother-daughter moment as she helped me get ready one last time before becoming a wife.

The First Look:

Eric and I had not considered doing a "first look" photo shoot. We wanted to keep it traditional and simply see each other for the first time at the church. It wasn't until 2 month before our wedding that we sat down and talked with our photographers that we really opened up to the idea, and were finally convinced. All I can say is,
I do not regret it one bit!
Having the first look vs seeing each other at the church allowed us to have a moment only the two of us would share. It was the most beautiful, intimate, experience and I will never forget it. We were allowed to really take in the moment, cry, hold each other, and spill out how beautiful and handsome we looked and how much we loved each other. This moment actually brought me flashbacks to how I felt when Eric and I met for the first time in person when we were kids. It was a moment we wouldn't have been able to have if we would have waited to see each other until the ceremony.

Ceremony:

Our ceremony began at 1:30p.m at La Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Ausuncion.
I was lead by my dad to the altar, where Eric and I had a beautiful ceremony, and became husband and wife.
The scriptures read at our wedding were,

Sirach 26, 1-4, 16-21
1 Corinthians 12, 31-13,8
Mark 10, 6-9

Reception

Our reception took place at Hacienda La Cantera.
This beautiful hacienda is hidden in the outskirts of town, down a narrow dirt path.
"This beautiful hacienda is one of the oldest in Lagos de Moreno because it emerged in the early seventeenth century. The hacienda was recognized in its time for its farmland and livestock".
I later learned that my grandfather worked at the hacienda at one time many years ago, which made sense on why it called our hearts to be married here.

First Dance:

Eric & his Mom danced to Thousand Years, by Christina Perri (DJ)

I danced with my Dad to Hija, by Abraham Velazquez (DJ)

Eric and I danced to Cross my Heart by George Straight (DJ) & Mi Razon de Ser, by Banda MS (Banda)

Party

Well well well, what can I say about the rest of the party? We danced our boots off!! We had such an amazing time. From starting off the dance with Banda La Quemadora...
...to partying the night away with our amazing DJ JC Morales. Honestly... Hands down one of the best DJ's ever & so glad he was a part of our special day.

(We were having such a great time on the dance floor.. that we forgot to cut our own cake!!!)🙈

3 Epic Highlights

1. We created a Tequila Line! Or I'm not even sure what to call it!

Eric and I stood on 2 chairs and were getting ready to start la "vivura de la mar" with a tequila bottle in hand. We started pouring shots of tequila to each lady who crossed under us, that eventually led to the men joining in, and soon the entire party just created a never ending line as we poured tequila! We went through 3 full bottles of Tequila!

2. My dad wasn't going to allow Eric to take my garter before going through him first!

3. By the end of the night Eric was feeling so good he ended up giving me a table dance!

We may not have done a "baile de dolar", but let me tell you...he got tipped pretty good by the crowd here!😉

Our nephew, Xavi's face here is priceless! Pobrecito

Special Thank You

Last but not least I want to say thank you to all our family and friends who joined us on our special day. It is a day we will never forget and it wouldn't have been the same without them.
To Eric for being the best partner to plan a wedding with. It was a roller coaster ride at times but we got through it together and the outcome was what we dreamed of. Love you husband💕
To my bridesmaids for being by my side every step of the way. From being two states away, to making sure I was okay the entire time. I love you girls!
To my Parents, Step-Parents, and Parents-in-laws for supporting us through our marriage and being a part of helping us plan this big day.
To my family in Mexico who helped me tremendously, especially since weddings in Mexico are not the same as they are here in the states.
To our padrinos, for accepting to sponsor us and taking part in receiving our sacrament of marriage.
To our Wedding Planner Lau Anaya, for keeping me sane and making our dream wedding a reality.
To our Photographer/Videographer at CinematicFly, for capturing these raw candid images that allow us to relive this day over and over.
To all the vendors, waiters, and staff we worked with through our wedding journey to help us make this dream come true.
To all our family and friends at home who could not attend, but were there at heart, supporting us every step of the way.

Thank you!

Forever Grateful, Simply Blessed
xoxo, The Castañedas
